Sweet Fellowship

But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin. 1 John 1:7

The word "fellowship" comes from the Greek word "koinonia", which can be found in the New Testament 20 times. This word can be defined as a common ground. For Christians, it is the foundation for our edifying and lifting one another up. It unites us for worship and for spreading God's word to a lost and dying world. Without fellowship, we would be alone, treading the waters of this world surrounded by a sea of sinful temptations without the benefit of Godly friends and family encouraging us to fight the good fight and to remain united for His cause.
When Christians maintain a sweet fellowship, they are stronger as the reach out to their communities, loving those around them, and making their church a lighthouse for those seeking shelter and comfort. Strong, united churches also produce future Godly leaders that will stand for the next generation.
For the early believers in Acts, fellowship was a priority. It was how they grew both spiritually and numerically. Acts 2:42 reminds us that, ...they continued steadfastly in the Apostles doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers. Because they devoted themselves to spending time with their fellow believers eating, praying, and praising God, they were more effective in their outreach and seeing souls saved.
So, the next time you wonder why we may not be seeing as many souls saved as we have in the past, survey your own heart and life to see where you are missing the fellowship with your church family. You could be the key to a great revival in our community!
