A Godly Heritage

A good name is better than precious ointment and the day of death than the day of one's birth. Ecclesiastes 7:1

In the past several years we have had many Godly soldiers of the Cross to pass from this life to their eternal one. Yesterday, we laid to rest a wonderful, cherished lady that loved God and her family fiercely. More than once it was said how she held her faith and shared it without reservation. As we have reflected through the years at each loss, one theme has repeated itself - their testimony and the heritage they left behind for all of us to carry on.

In this verse, we are reminded that the testimony we leave behind for others should be an honorable one. We should inspire others, even years after our passing, to continue serving and worshipping God. Our life and what we accomplished for His kingdom is the testament to our good name (through Him) and this is more valuable that any material wealth we could ever leave.

What will be said of us when it's our time to cross over? Will something in our life be a catalyst for them to grow closer to God and serve Him with a greater zeal than ever before? While there is breath, there is still time.
