The Almighty God

For who hath known the mind of the Lord? or who hath been his counsellor? Romans 11:34

Who hath directed the Spirit of the Lord, or being his counsellor hath taught him? Isaiah 40:13

Who hath prevented me, that I should repay him? whatsoever is under the whole heaven is mine. Job 4:11

Three times in Scripture we see the question posed to us - Who is so great that they can understand the mind of God and offer Him counsel?

The obvious answer is - no one.

So then, why do we continue to tell God what we want rather than asking for His will to be done?

God doesn't need our advice, our wish lists, or our suggestions. While we only see a minute part of the entire picture of our vast universe (which includes our lives), God sees the entirety of it. When He says no, there is a greater purpose and reasoning for it. He may or may not share the reason with us and He does not need our temper tantrums when we do not get what we wanted.

Yes, it's tough waiting and not receiving the answer we think is best. I would love to receive untold wealth. In my current situation, I think that I would use it to benefit others such as missionaries, churches, and other spiritual-minded organizations. However, since I have not yet been given these riches, I understand that God may see a different outcome that could be detrimental to my eternal reward and my reputation.

Trust Him and know that He is almighty - one that needs no counsel.
