God's Guidance to Tomorrow's Wonders
And they commanded the people, saying, When ye see the ark of the covenant of the Lord your God, and the priests the Levites bearing it, then ye shall remove from your place, and go after it. Yet there shall be a space between you and it, about two thousand cubits by measure: come not near unto it, that ye may know the way by which ye must go: for ye have not passed this way heretofore. And Joshua said unto the people, Sanctify yourselves: for to morrow the Lord will do wonders among you. Joshua 3:3-5
Ladies, does your husband still have an atlas? Mine does. Before GPS, I was the navigator for our road trips. I followed the map and provided instructions on what to look for and what routes would be better. Unlike GPS, I had no forewarning of speed traps or road closures. And.....at best, it was several years out of date, so we just hoped for the best.
The Children of Israel were instructed to follow the Ark at a distance to where they could feel the comfort of knowing God was with them and where everyone could see it. The journey they were on was not one they had traveled before and was uncertain at best. While they had the final destination, the way to it was led by the Ark.
Interesting facts given by Robert Morgan - the Ark contained the rod of Aaron (God's power), the tablets of Ten Commandments (God's precepts) and manna (God's provisions).
This life is filled with unknown and uncertain moments. We know that as Christians, Heaven is waiting for us at the end, but what lies ahead of us on the road there can be interesting. So, while traveling through this life, let God lead the way with His provision, His power, and His precepts. The journey to receiving the wonders of following God will be much smoother.
Joshua told the children to consecrate themselves so God could do wonders for them.
Our faith is action based. We cannot be passive in it like we are so many other things. We must act and be willing to give something of ourselves.
If you have been praying for a lost loved one, keep praying. Sanctify yourself as you wait.
