A Testimony
Who can find a virtuous woman? For her price is far above rubies. Proverbs 31:10
On Sunday, two women passed from this life to their eternal one. One enjoyed accolades of Hollywood, fame, and fortune. Her testimony was that of making people laugh, teaching them how to tone their thighs, and sharing behind the scenes information as an author. She spent her life gaining fame and fortune and making her mark on the world that will be remembered through those "Stars We Lost" episodes. While many will remember her for her characters on television shows, many did not feel much more of an impact from her life. The other was the epitome of a Proverbs 31 woman and lived her life well serving God and loving her family. While her impact was more local, it had far-reaching effects that touched many lives through her love, her devotion, and her dedication.
Ms. Christine was a godly example of a Christian, a mother, a wife, and a friend. She shared her faith through singing in a quartet as well as in her home church. Even when faced with trials, loss, and heartache, she never wavered in her faith. Her obituary reads, "To be in her presence was to feel her gentle touch and know her loving spirit. Christine’s legacy is one that her family is proud to carry forward, remembering fondly the words of encouragement she gave throughout the years."
Her faith can be seen through her family. She and Joe, her husband of over 63 years, raised 8 children as well as countless others that she provided care for in her home. She gave tirelessly of herself providing for her family a home that shared the love of Christ and of a mother that was always there for her family.
This Friday we will celebrate a life well lived. In her poem The Dash, Linda Ellis said, “What matters is how we live and love / And how we spend our dash” For Ms. Christine, her dash was well spent.
Until we meet again in that wonderful country, Ms. Christine. Thank you for a godly testimony and example to follow.
