Who is He?
On Sunday we sang the first of many Christmas songs. One of our congregational songs was We Three Kings. The last verse reads:
Glorious now behold Him arise
King and God and sacrifice
Alleluia, Alleluia
Sounds through the earth and skies
Did you read that second line? No, well read it now.
WOW. Now, I know this song is not scripture, but it does provide to us a clear visual of who He is.
King - Isaiah prophesied that he would be King and so much more.
For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace. Isaiah 9:6
God - John declared Him to be God from the beginning of time. John also declared the communion that God, His Son, and the Word had.
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. John 1:1
Savior - Paul and John declared Him to be the savior for mankind.
Wherefore he is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by him, seeing he ever liveth to make intercession for them. Hebrews 7:25
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. John 3:16
No wonder the angels sang Alleluia!
During this Christmas season, focus not on what is under the tree, but who hung on it for our sins. Take the time to reflect not only on His birth, but the need of it.
