After Bethlehem

And the shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things that they had heard and seen, as it was told unto them. Luke 2:20

But you, Bethlehem Ephrathah, though you are small among the clans of Judah, out of you will come for me one who will be ruler over Israel, whose origins are from of old, from ancient times. Micah 5:2

We have all heard the Christmas account read each year through plays, sermons, or through our own Bible reading plan. The shepherds were given the privilege of being the first to know about the Savior's birth and His first visitors. Joseph took on the enormous task of being Jesus earthly father without argument. Mary faced the stigma of being an unwed mother in a society that would stone her for this act.

What happened after Bethlehem? We see through scripture that the shepherds shared the wondrous news they received. They were messengers of God's promise being made flesh for us. We also know that Joseph and Mary remained in Bethlehem until an angel warned Joseph to flee to Egypt. Each life included in the Nativity was forever changed. (Just think of how the Innkeeper would feel when he learned who he turned away).

How has the Nativity changed your life? Sure, Christmas 2023 has come and gone, but it's impact should still be felt in your life. The promise found 11 times in the Old Testament for a savior and the fulfillment of that promise in the New Testament should give you hope, a worshipful heart, and the praise felt by the shepherds.

We should be like the shepherds by glorifying and praising God for His gift to us. Through His birth, Jesus walked the earthly road that would lead to His crucifixion and our salvation.

Now that's a reason for praise.

A great reason to praise! If he had not came to earth, there would be no hope for us. I couldn't even start to imagine my life without him guiding me.
